Brother held for cheating NRI

As part of the ongoing investigations in the case involving UT estate officials who had allegedly cheated a non-resident Indian,the police arrested Jaswant Singh,brother of complainant Tara Singh,on Thursday.

As part of the ongoing investigations in the case involving UT estate officials who had allegedly cheated a non-resident Indian,the police arrested Jaswant Singh,brother of complainant Tara Singh,on Thursday.

According to the police,Jaswant had executed an agreement to sell a shop-cum-flat in favour of O P Mittal,who was living as a tenant in the unit.

The accused did not have rights to sell the SCF according to the general power of attorney executed by Tara Singh.

A case was registered on July 22,2009,under Sections 419,420,467,468,471 and 120B of the IPC by the Vigilance Cell of the UT Police.

Tara Singh had complained that his SCF had been sold 20 on the basis of a forged power of attorney.

Estate official Harnek Singh and his advocate G S Sawhney have already been arrested in the case and are in judicial custody. The role of other suspects J B Singh (an NRI advocate),Mittal and a few government officials are being investigated.
