Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has posted six PPS officers as superintendents of the six central jails in Punjab . A spokesman of the Home Department said that Ajay Maluja has been posted as Superintendent,Central Jail,Bathinda,Makhan Singh as Superintendent,Central Jail,Amritsar,Jagmohan Singh as Superintendent,Central Jail,Faridkot,Narinder Pal Kaushal as Superintendent,Central Jail,Patiala,Shammi Kapoor as Superintendent,Central Jail,Gurdaspur and Randhir Singh Uppal as Superintendent,Central Jail,Ludhiana.

Majithia named SAD youth wing chief

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday appointed his brother-in-law Bikram Singh Majithia,an MLA,as the party’s youth wing president. Majithia will announce the organisational set up of the youth wing within 15 days of his appointment,said Sukhbir.

SGPC employees clash,one hurt

Amritsar: An employee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC),Jujhar Singh,sustained serious injuries,when three of his colleagues attacked him with an arrow kept near the holy Guru Granth Sahib,late on Thursday night near Akal Takht inside the Golden Temple complex. The clash,said SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh,broke out over a minor issue.

Amarinder takes on Sukhbir over DGP

Chandigarh: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to spell out the post retirement role for the Director General of Police PS Gill. Reacting to Sukhbir’s remarks that the DGP was going to continue in office till September 30,2011,the day he retires,Capt said the Deputy CM should also tell people of Punjab whether Gill would be Akali Dal’s candidate from Moga.

Sirsa estate officer gets bail

Chandigarh: Held guilty and convicted in a corruption case,Sirsa Estate officer Deveshwar Dalal was on Friday granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A lower Court in Sirsa had earlier awarded four years imprisonment to Dalal.
