Trust aims to reunite girl who ‘wandered’ into Pak with family

Amritsar:The Ansar Burney Trust International has taken up the case of a deaf and mute girl who is said to have mistakenly entered Pakistan from India nearly 13 years ago. The Trust aims to reunite the girl with her family in India. Geeta,alias Guddi,was allegedly eight when she was found by the police at Lahore Railway Station. The only details about her family in India that she has so far reportedly written in Hindi are that she had seven brothers and three sisters and her house was located in fields near a river with a hospital and hotel in the backdrop. Human Rights activist Ansar Burney,during his scheduled visit to India on October 12,will make efforts to trace the family of the girl.

Train runs over 3 walking on tracks

Chandigarh:Three people were killed and one sustained injuries on Friday morning,when the New Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi Express hit them,while they were crossing the rail tracks. The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained. “The accident took place near Bahadurgarh Railway Station,Rohtak,when the four tried to cross the track,despite seeing the train approaching,” a railway official said.

Haryana Khap to honour Pak activists

Chandigarh:Gulia Khap that is active in around 25 villages of Haryana’s Jhajjar district will felicitate a Pakistani delegation,comprising human and civil rights activists,in Laadpur village on October 14. The Khap,in collaboration with Sailor Relief Fund,will honour the delegates for their efforts in the social sector. Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal are expected to attend the function.

Schools to have digital classrooms

Chandigarh:Under the Digital Equalizer Programme,introduced in District Education Training Institutes in Sirsa to make learning more interesting,the state government has decided to expand the programme to 75 educational institutions of the state where digital classrooms will be set up.

CCUs in 3 more districts of Haryana

Chandigarh:The Haryana government plans to set up Cardiac Care Units (CCU) in three more districts of the state – Kurukshetra,Ambala and Yamunanagar – which are being covered under the National Non-Communicable Disease Programme of the Centre.

Children homes in all districts of Punjab

Ludhiana:The state government has decided to set up adoption agencies and children homes in all the districts of the state,for which Rs 9 crore,of the total Rs 19 crores,has been sanctioned by the government. Rajnish Kumar Jasra,Deputy Director,Social Welfare and Women and Child Development Department,said on Friday that the agencies aimed at providing food,shelter,care and education to orphans till the age of 18 years”.

HC dismisses Dhanola’s bail plea

Chandigarh:The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed Baba Tek Singh Dhanola’s anticipatory bail plea. Dhanola is a former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) executive committee member.

Dismiss Hooda govt,says Chuatala

Chandigarh:Hours after India Against Corruption’s Arvind Kejriwal alleged that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra got benefits worth hundreds of crores from real estate giant DLF,Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Prakash Chautala demanded that the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government in Haryana should immediately be dismissed. Chautala also demanded that a sitting Supreme Court judge should be appointed to investigate the scam.
