Biker Kick

Discovery Turbo will feature the best of the world’s motorcycle brands in their series Twist the Throttle. Each episode will focus on a bike brand,showcasing the remarkable history; design facilities and research and development departments; and ultimately,what it is like to ride these magnificent machines on some of the most picturesque roads and spectacular race tracks across the world.

The brands covered in the programme include BMW,Suzuki,Honda,Ducati,Kawasaki,Bimota,MV Agusta and Yamaha. The show captivates both riders and non-riders,and features intriguing facts like how Suzuki completely reinvented itself from a weaving looms manufacturer to a company that made Suzuki GSX-R1000,a motorbike that redefined the modern sports bike. It also narrates how a company founded by three brothers making radios ended up creating one of the fastest and most stunning motorcycles in the world,Ducati. Another inspiring story is of BMW,which started as an aircraft engine manufacturer. It will also narrate the heart-rendering story of Soichiro Honda,an uneducated young man from rural Japan,who,without money or connections,realised his dream to create the largest motorcycle company of the world.

The series also highlights motorcycles not just as means of transport,but as a fashion statement created by mechanical artists.

The show will be telecast every Wednesday at 7 pm on Discovery Turbo.
