Aunty Number One

Aditi Gowitrikar steps into the Punjabi film industry with the film,Myself Ghaint

After Neha Dhupia and Minissha Lamba, another showbiz personality has bought a ticket to Pollywood. Model-turned-actor Aditi Gowitrikar (last seen in films such as Bheja Fry 2 ,De Dana Dan and Hum Tum Aur Shabana),has signed on Punjabi film titled

Myself Ghaint.

“Back in Mumbai,we’re getting reports of the huge success of the Punjabi film industry,so why would anyone not want to be associated with it,” says Gowitrikar. A comedy of errors,Myself Ghaint has been directed by short film director and producer Akashdeep Singh Batth and entrepreneur Gagandeep Singh. Produced by United Space Productions, the film also stars singer and actor Dolly Sidhu,Gaurav Kakkar (of Sadda Haq fame),radio jockey Pak Pak Deepak and Maninder Velly.

The film revolves around three friends, who lead uneventful lives until fate hurtles them into a roller coaster ride. A comedy with a love story,it has Sidhu and Kakkar in the lead. Gowitrikar plays Sidhu’s vivacious aunt. The film has been penned by Pak Pak Deepak and will release later this year. Batth has written two books and also co-produced and directed an upcoming Punjabi VFX film,We are Warriors.

Playing an aunt doesn’t bother Gowitrikar. It’s an interesting role and she won’t need perfect Punjabi diction for it. “My character speaks incorrect Punjabi, she is quite a fun person,” says the actor. Gowitrikar has worked in Telegu,Kannada and Marathi films previously.

Television, she says,a big no. “I am all for appearances and maybe even a Fear Factor, but never serials, not even another shot at Bigg Boss, because it messes with the head”.
