3 Malawi children treated in Mohali
Sas Nagar: Three children from Malawi were admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali as a part of the hospitals initiative of providing medical care to underprivileged people. The children arrived from Malawi along with their guardians were Prisca Patric (14) suffering from PDA (Patent Ductus Auterosis),Hastings Thengo (5),suffering from VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) and Nkhoma Patience (6),suffering from PDA. All 3 children were successfully operated upon and treated free of cost.
Road safety programme held at Shivalik school
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Traffic Police on Tuesday organised a road safety exhibition at Shivalik Public School,Sector 41. More than 300 students participated in this programme. Deputy Inspector General of Police Chandigarh,Alok Kumar,while addressing the students said that road safety issue was an important issue which calls for more attention from all stakeholders. DSP Traffic Vijay Kumar,all traffic inspectors,traffic marshal Gurnam Singh and school officials attended the programme. More than 2000 pamphlets on road safety were also distributed to the school students.
Indonesian Parliament delegation visits HOPAS
Panchkula: Indonesia has evinced interest in the steps being taken by Haryana Overseas Placement Assistance Society (HOPAS) to provide employment to the people abroad. A 12-member delegation,led by Chairman,Committee III of the House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and Member of Parliament (MP) Hardi Selamat Hood,today visited the office of HOPAS at Panchkula on Monday. Speaking on the occasion,Hood said that the aim of their visit was to know about various activities and services being provided by the Migrant Resource Centre established at Panchkula.
City college holds AIDS awareness programme
Chandigarh: THE Red Ribbon Club of the Post Graduate Government College for Girls,Sector 11 in collaboration with the Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society organised a series of events and a prize distribution function in the college today. D K Tiwari,Director Higher Education,UT Administration,the chief guest for the event gave away prizes to the winners of various inter-college slogan-writing,poster-making and essay-writing competitions organised by the college.
