Ankur roars with 2 goals as SAI NCOE, Sonipat, trounce Namdhari Hockey Academy by 6-1

A brace by Ankur Ror coupled with one goal each by Navraj Singh, Srijan Yadav, Mithilesh Yadav and Ravinder guided SAI NCOE, Sonipat, to a 6-1 win over Namdhari Hockey Academy and close the gap between them and leaders Round Glass Hockey Academy to two points in the Punjab Hockey League being organised by Hockey Punjab and Round Glass Sports at Olympian Balbir Singh International Stadium on Sunday. SAI NCOE, Sonipat, have 15 points while Round Glass Hockey Academy have 17 points in the league.

The match between SAI NCOE, Sonipat and Namdhari Hockey Academy started on an attacking note with SAI NCOE forwards taking early control in the match. Ankur Ror scored his opening goal of the match for SAI NCOE with a field goal in the fourth minute. Three minutes later, Navraj Singh scored the second goal for SAI NCOE through a successful conversion of a penalty corner to put the team ahead by 2-0. Trailing by two goals, Namdhari Hockey Academy forwards regrouped their energies and made some inroads into the opposition half. Gobind Patel scored the opening goal for Namdhari Hockey Academy with a field goal in the 28th minute of the match. Two minutes later, Srijan Yadav scored the third goal for SAI NCOE through a penalty corner before Mithilesh Yadav netted the fourth goal for SAI NCOE in the 31st minute. Ror scored his second goal of the match in the 47th minute of the match with a field goal before Ravinder scored the sixth goal for the team in the 50th minute to complete the 6-1 win.

In another match of the day, Round Glass Hockey Academy scored a 10-3 win over SDAT Hockey Academy, Tamil Nadu. For Round Glass Hockey Academy, Gurwinder Singh, Jobanpreet Singh and Japnit Singh scored a brace each while skipper Gursewak Singh, Sukhmanpreet Singh, Varinder Singh and Prince Singh scored one goal each. For the losing side, S Vishal, S Krishnan and M Sugumar scored one goal each. It was a winning day for PIC Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, as the team scored a 7-1 win over Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy. Abhishek Gorkha scored a brace for the winning team while Charanjeet Singh, Manroop Singh, Karan Singh, Ajaypal Singh and Navdeer Kumar netted one goal each. For the losing side, Prikshit scored the solitary goal.

In another match of the day, Naval Tata Hockey Academy, Jamshedpur, scored a 4-3 win over SGPC Hockey Academy, Amritsar. For the winning team, Tintus Hemrom and Ashish Tuni Purti scored a brace each. For the losing side, Harwinder Singh scored a brace while Daljeet Singh scored one goal.
