Propelled by a fine knock of 42 runs by Akshay Kaushik,DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 scored an eight-wicket win over Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir,Ratwara Sahib in the first match of the Cremica Cup Cricket Tournament played at DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 on Monday.

Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir,Ratwara Sahib won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bundled out for a total of 84 runs in 15.3 overs. Mandeep was the main scorer for Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir,Ratwara Sahib as he played a knock of 18 runs while Jaggjit Singh played a knock of nine runs.

Chasing an easy target of 85 runs,hosts DAA Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 reached the target for the loss of two wickets in just 5.4 overs. Akshay Kaushik played a match winning knock of 42 runs while Prashant played a knock of 28 runs.

Earlier,outgoing UT Administrator and Punjab Governor General (retd),S. F. Rodriguez inaugurated the tournament on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor,applauded the spirit of the young aspiring players and exhorted them to give in their best to the sport,which demands full time dedication and discipline.
