A newly opened restaurant in the city,Ten Towns, promises to offer cuisines from selected Mediterranean towns

When three foodies cum travellers got together and discussed their food interests,Ten Towns was the result. This new 40-cover restaurant in Sector-26,serves selected dishes from different Mediterranean towns of Italy,Turkey,Lebanon,Morocco,Greece. “On our trips abroad,we felt that the city needed a place that serves authentic Mediterranean food and decided to open this place. Here,we have a menu that’s constantly evolving,as we have dishes that come from 10 towns of Mediterranean countries,’’ explains Vivek,Parv and Gaurav, close friends and foodies. The interiors here are deliberately made to resemble a Mediterranean villa with painted brick walls, flooring done in burnt bricks, low lighting, potted indoor plants and a relaxed seating arrangement. On Sundays, the place hosts a brunch with live music by Bazil Rozario.

The menu is extensive, and apart from a few staples, the chefs hope to constantly add new dishes. A wood-fired oven prepares the restaurant’s selection of thin-crust pizzas, with innovative toppings. We liked the pizza with a generous topping of seafood. The food here is light and flavoursome,as we found out by sampling the risotto balls, which are crisp on the outside and succulent inside, served with an array of sauces. The Istanbul salads are light, refreshing, and can be paired well with humus and falafels. Vegetarians must try the Mediterranean braised mushrooms and Greek oven baked dishes, which have unique flavours and are just done right.

We recommend their signature Shish Taouk,melt-in-the-mouth chicken served on a bed of veggies, with sauted onions and dips. The Moroccan style Chermoula chicken had interesting flavours, while the Turkish Koftas make for a wholesome main dish. Also on the menu are staples like pastas, risotto, lasagne, herb grilled chicken and fish, bruschettas. A meal for two costs approximately Rs 800,without drinks.

The restaurant also offers an Italian buffet during lunch,at Rs 299 for vegetarians and Rs 399 for non-vegetarians
