4 war widows honoured

Among those honoured were Jaswant Jeet Kaur,Karamjit Kaur,Gurinder Kaur and Tej Kaur. Swadesh Trikha,mother of Flight Lieutenant Maheesh Trikha informed that in memory of her son,a Foundation was set up with an objective to brighten up all aspects of human life from safe childbirth to a dignified old age. Besides other objectives,the foundation assists in rehabilitation of the war widows and the families of the martyrs.

Celebrations in tricity schools
Independence Day was also celebrated at Hansraj Public School,PEC University of Technology,PML S D Public School,Sector 32,Post-Graduate Government College for Girls,Sector-11,IET Bhaddal,Bhavan Vidyalaya,GGDSD College,Sector 32-C,Kendriya Vidayala,Mount Carmel School,Sector 47-B,Delhi Public School,St Anne’s Convent School,Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School,Sector 2,Shemrock Senior Secondary School,Sanawar Montessori School Sector 11,Greenfield Smart School,Phase-5 in Mohali and Satluj Public School,Sector 4,Panchkula. The children of labour working at the High Court construction sitealso celebrated the Independence Day. Sai Tara Ummat Foundation,an NGO,in collaboration with UT Education Department in the AIE Centre distributed distributed prizes to participants. A K Ummat,chairman of the foundation,explained the activities of the foundation which were being taken up under the Partnership Initiative Programme of the Administration.
