Two medical students from Gotri GMERS college drowned while on an outing at the Narmada canal in Ankodiya in Vadodara district on Wednesday, police said.
The two medical students, identified as Prem Madam and Aditya Ramakrishna, hailed from Jamnagar and Surat, respectively. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, when both had arrived for a walk along the Narmada canal in Ankodiya.
Officials of the Vadodara Taluka Police station said that the two friends allegedly “slipped and fell into the canal”, and were feared drowned. The Vadodara taluka police station has registered a case of accidental death even as the fire department retrieved the bodies of both the students.
“The two students had ventured near the canal on Wednesday afternoon. It is not clear if they were trying to enter the canal to take a dip but they slipped while walking in the periphery. Both bodies were recovered and sent to Gotri medical college in Vadodara,” an officer of the Vadodara taluka police station said.
