The Union Home Ministry has fixed a quota of 1,700 youths from Gujarat for recruitment as constables in ,through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The total recruitment being made across the country is 49,070 personnel.
Besides this,another 274 constables,including women,will be recruited for postings in various paramilitary forces in Kutch district. The forces in which the recruitment will be made are the Border Security Force,Sashastra Seema Bal,Central Industrial Security Force,Central Reserve Police Force,Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Assam Rifles.
SSC Regional Director G P Agrawal told mediapersons here on Thursday that the number of applicant for various posts being filled through SSC has increased over the years.
Against a total number of 35,000 applicants appearing at various competitive examinations in 2009-10,the figure had reached 2.25 lakh in 2010-2011. This was an indication of the atmosphere of competition developing among the educated youths of Gujarat as also their inclination towards government jobs.
He said at least two lakh candidates from Gujarat will apply for the job of constables in para-military forces,with a pay scale of Rs 5,200-20,200.
The age limit for the candidates is 18-23 years and the required education is that of matriculation.
