The NDA coalition government has extended college hours till 5 pm and allotted two hours daily for focused coaching using new, high-quality study material.Of a total of 2,10,358 undergraduate students, who registered on the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal, 53.47 per cent have confirmed their admissions as on Monday.
In the third round of the first phase of the admissions, universities and colleges offered seats to a total of 2,10,358 students who also had their verification done.
As of Monday afternoon, a total of 1,12,483 students confirmed their admissions. The final figures will be announced on Tuesday after the completion of the third round.
“June 10 (Tuesday) is reserved for technical processing, during which universities and colleges will make offers to students for the fourth round of the first phase of admissions. For the fourth round, students will be able to confirm their admissions at the respective universities or colleges on June 11 (Wednesday) and 12 (Thursday),” education department officials said.
Students, who have missed applying during the first phase of admissions, can submit their applications for the remaining seats in the second phase. The last date for applying for the second phase is June 13. Students must get their applications verified at a nearby verification centre by June 16, failing which, their application will not be considered for the second phase.
Meanwhile, the deadline for application for the first phase of admissions to postgraduate programmes, which earlier was June 7, has been extended. Students can now submit their applications for admission to postgraduate programmes until June 10. As of 2 pm on Monday, a total of 54,744 students have submitted their applications. Students must have their applications verified for admission to postgraduate programmes by June 12.
The education department has also issued special instructions for students who have applied for admissions to BEd and Nursing programmes through the GCAS portal. They have been asked to get their applications verified at any nearby college or university offering BEd and Nursing programmes. A list of verification centres for these applications is available on the GCAS portal.
Students who have submitted their application and wish to apply for courses at Gujarat University or Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, which joined later, can also modify their choices during the online application period. For admission to postgraduate programmes, students must have their applications verified for those to be considered for admission.
