In Step

“I gave Hrithik tips on body language to look like an authentic Latino dancer,” says Sandip Soparkar, who’s choreographed the songs in Kites,Roshan’s new film which will be released whenever the multiplex strike ends.

“I gave Hrithik tips on body language to look like an authentic Latino dancer,” says Sandip Soparkar, who’s choreographed the songs in Kites,Roshan’s new film which will be released whenever the multiplex strike ends.

Soparkar made a quick stop in Delhi and recounted his days teaching some salsa steps to Roshan and his costar Kangana Ranaut. “Training Hrithik is easy,he’s a born dancer,” says Soparkar, who was trained in ballroom dancing in Germany.

Soparkar got a lucky break with Kites when US-based choreographer Flexi walked out of the movie after a spat with Roshan. “I’ve always wanted to dance with Madhuri,Helen and Hrithik. So when this opportunity arose,I grabbed it,” he smiles. Soparkar worked on one full song for Kites, and finished Flexi’s work on other songs. Ranaut,he says, was the real surprise: “She has tremendous flexibility. You’ll see her doing some amazing contortions.” Next,Soparkar will make Mithun Chakraborty and Dimple Kapadia do the waltz for their upcoming film,Phir Kabhi.
