BRTS to open new routes

Adding five-km stretch to the existing 77-km to Ahmedabad’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS),the new route from Nehrunagar to Gujarat University will be operational from December 1.

Adding five-km stretch to the existing 77-km to Ahmedabad’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS),the new route from Nehrunagar to Gujarat University will be operational from December 1. Moreover, four new circular routes between RTO,Kalupur and Anjali crossroad will be added by the Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited on Sunday itself.

With the presence of education institutes, the new stretch under phase II of BRTS was much awaited by student commuters. On the other hand, the new routes on the existing stretch have been planned after a survey of commuters’ movement.

“A detailed survey based on public utility services including hospitals, railway station, parks and others is conducted before making new routes operational. Also, with the BRTS average running speed of 25-km per hour within city areas,it is much faster than any private vehicle, thus making it preferable for commuters,” said Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Municipal Commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra.
