Four children from a family went missing from the city on Monday, police said. The family members have lodged a complaint in this regard on Tuesday stating that one of the children had called them from Bhopal on the same day. The police, however, suspect that the children have walked away to harass their parents.
The four children have been identified as Gopi Nagraj (17),Jayesh Nagraj (11),Manisha Kumar (14) and Suraj Kumar (16),all residents of Hatkeshwar in Ahmedabad.
According to the complaint,Gopi, who works at a garment store in Hatkeshwar, left his home on Monday morning. He had reportedly collected his due salary from the owner and left the store at 12:30pm.
The other three left home on Monday morning to attend their school but did turn up,police said. One of the school students informed the parents that the trio did not attend classes.
The Khokhra police said the parents searched for the children, but when they did not return, they lodged a complaint in wee hours of Tuesday.
The case took a turn when their father Nagraj Naykar received a call from an outstation number. The caller was Gopi who reportedly asked him to come and take them back. However,he did not disclose his location.
Naykar said,He did not give more information on their location and hung up the phone. We dont know if they have walked away or someone lured them.
Gopi, who is school dropout, was unemployed for a long time. He had earlier also gone missing from Bharuch.
Khokhra Inspector M D Upadhyay said,We traced the number and it was of a STD PCO from Bhopal railway station. Gopi has done this in past too when he went missing from Bharuch and returned after one year. We believe that he has lured the other kids to come with him. He wants to harass his parents for some reason.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad police have alerted Bhopal police. They have also inquired at Gopi’s workplace and received reviews that his activities were always under suspicion.
The police have lodged a case of missing and started further investigation.
