The prime suspect of the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case,Usman Ahmed alias Shahid Nagori,was sent to nine-day police custody by a local court Sunday.
He was brought to the city early Sunday after his arrest in Ujjain of Madhya Pradesh by a team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch officials and Madhya Pradesh police.
The police officials produced him before a Metropolitan court in Ahmedabad and got his custody. He had been arrested for his alleged involvement in conspiracy and terror activities. Nagori,a native of Nagori Mohalla near Topkhana area in Ujjain,was wanted in the serial blasts case.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) had received a tip-off about Nagoris presence in Ujjain for last one month. The tip-off was shared with the MP police.
Speaking to the mediapersons,ACP (Crime) K N Patel said,Nagori had received training in the Wagamon terror-training camp in Kerela. He was involved in conspiring the blasts with the Madhya Pradesh module of IM terrorists lodged in Ahmedabad jail at present.
