Early in the day, the HDFC Bank share price touched a fresh record high of Rs 1,836.05 following a 1.4 per cent gain. A total of 93,000 shares changed hands generating a total turnover of Rs 16.92 crore. The company’s market cap briefly crossed Rs 14 lakh crore, according to the BSE website. The shares of the company have a PE of 20.98x.
From the 30-share Sensex pack today, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, ITC, State Bank of India, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank and Tata Steel were among the gainers.
A month ago, the country’s largest private sector lender had reported a 5.3 per cent jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 16,820 crore in the quarter ended September 2024, compared to Rs 15,976 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal.
On a sequential basis, the lender’s profit after tax grew by 4 per cent in the second quarter of the current fiscal. Net interest income (interest earned less interest expended) increased by 10 per cent to Rs 30,110 crore from Rs 27,390 crore in the year-ago quarter. Core net interest margin (NIM) was at 3.46 per cent on total assets, and 3.65 per cent based on interest earning assets.
Other income (non-interest revenue) for the quarter stood at Rs 11,480 crore as against Rs 10,710 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal. During the reporting quarter, the bank’s operating expenses increased by 9.7 per cent to Rs 16,890 crore, compared to Rs 15,400 crore in the year ago quarter.
