New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Locals residents on Friday staged a protest outside the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in the national capital against the organising of a meet to “mourn” the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and JKLF cofounder Maqbool Bhat. One of the protestors, who is also a teacher, said the act is intolerable and unacceptable in a country like India.

Madrassa teacher 'pays price for being patriotic'

Kolkata, Jan 06 (ANI): Madrassa teacher Kazi Masum Akhtar on Wednesday said it had been nine months since he was brutally attacked by some hardliners for training students to sing the national anthem in his school in Kolkata. On 26th March 2015, Akhtar was brutally attacked in his school by some hardliners from the neighbouring area, over allegations that he was hurting religious sentiments of the Muslim community. He stated that he had paid the price for being patriotic. He added that he is still waiting for justice from the state government.
