Ramapati Ram Tripathi, born on November 14, 1950, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, is a known figure in Indian politics, associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Tripathi's early life was in the village of Jhudia, within a farming family. He pursued his education in Ayurvedic medicine and surgery, graduating from SNYA Medical College, Bhagalpur, Bihar. Tripathi was also actively involved in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from a young age.
His political career began in the student union, where he was elected General Secretary at Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate College, Gorakhpur, in 1969. Tripathi's involvement in the JP movement against Indira Gandhi in 1974, which led to his detention during the Emergency, is a testament to his commitment to political activism.
Over the years, Tripathi climbed the ranks of the BJP, serving as the Gorakhpur District President from 1984 to 1989, the General Secretary of the BJP Uttar Pradesh from 1995 to 2007, and eventually the President of the BJP Uttar Pradesh from 2007 to 2010.
His extensive political career also includes serving as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council from May 2000 to May 2012.
In the 2019 general elections, Tripathi was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from the Deoria seat, succeeding Kalraj Mishra.
