Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla is a right handed batsman who plays for South Africa. A regular in the South African Test side, Amla is recognised as one of the best batsmen in the longest format of the game. Amla made his Test debut in 2004 against India in Kolkata. It proved to be a false start with many questioning his ability. He was given a Test cap again against New Zealand and this time he, shone, scoring 149 and helping the Proteas to a draw. He is also the only South African to score a triple century in Test cricket. Over the years, he erased questions about his abilities in the shorter format of the game and has scored over 6000 ODI runs. Amla also captained South Africa. He took over at a time of transition and hence to find significant success as skipper. In 2016, he relinquished the post for AB de Villiers.
