B Y Raghavendra, born on August 16, 1973, in Shikaripur, Mysore State (present-day Karnataka), India, is a significant figure in the Indian political landscape. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and currently serves as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Shimoga.
He was born to B. S. Yeddyurappa and the late Maithradevi. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from ATNCC College in Shivamogga. After graduating from college, Raghavendra became involved in local politics.
His political career began when he contested the bye-poll in Shikaripura and won by a large margin when his father, Yeddyurappa, resigned as the MLA of Shikaripura to contest the Lok Sabha polls.
He was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha elections from Shimoga constituency, where he defeated S. Bangarappa by a margin of 52,893 votes. In the 2018 Lok Sabha bye-polls, he won the Shimoga constituency by defeating the daughter of S. Bangarappa, Madhu Bangarappa, by a margin of 47,388 votes. He retained his seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections after winning by a margin of over two lakh votes.
