Arun Kumar Sagar biography

Arun Kumar Sagar is a political leader from Uttar Pradesh and a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjanpur Lok Sabha constituency.

His upbringing and formative years set the stage for his eventual rise to political prominence. Originating from a BSP family, Sagar made his name as a well-liked young Dalit leader among the Jatav community in western Uttar Pradesh. As he rose through the BSP ranks, he demonstrated his capacity for leadership and the backing of the party's grassroots by holding the positions of District President of Shahjahanpur District and later important coordinator in the unit.

His political career took a dramatic turn when, following his dismissal from the BSP due to alleged anti-party activities, he joined the BJP. After realizing Sagar's potential as a Dalit leader, the BJP accepted him into the fold and named him vice-president of the Braj region branch of the party.

His quick ascent through the BJP ranks led to his choice as the group's candidate for the general elections of 2019 in the Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha seat. Sagar's triumph in these elections was a turning point in his political career, confirming his seat as Shahjahanpur's MP.
