Adoor Prakash biography

Adoor Prakash, born on 24 May 1952, is a prominent Indian politician from the Indian National Congress. He has been a significant figure in the political landscape of Kerala, India, and currently serves as the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, representing the Attingal constituency.

He was born in Adoor, a town in the State of Travancore–Cochin, which is present-day Kerala. He pursued his education at Sree Narayana College, Chempazhanthy, and The Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.

His political journey began through the student movement of the Kerala Students Union. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly consecutively from the Konni Constituency in the 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016 General Elections as a candidate of the Indian National Congress.

He held several ministerial positions in the Government of Kerala during his tenure. He served as the Food and Civil Supplies Minister in the first Oommen Chandy Ministry from 2004 to 2006. Later, in the second Oommen Chandy cabinet formed in 2011, he was initially in charge of health and coir. Following a cabinet reshuffle in April 2012, he was made the Minister of Land Revenue. In 2019, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Attingal constituency.
