A day after Philando Castile was fatally shot dead by a police officer at Falcon Heights, his girlfriend Diamond Reynolds released a video on Facebook explaining the cruelty with which the police officers behaved with her and 4-her year-old daughter when they were taken to the police station.
In the 2-minute Facebook video, a visibly angry Reynolds is heard saying, “It is not okay. They tamper with evidence, they took me off the scene, and I was not allowed to talk to anybody up until 5 am. Then I was dropped off at my doorstep. I was not relieved. My name is Diamond Reynolds and I was not relieved till 5 am. They had us at Roseville. They separated my daughter from me and they didn’t feed us. They even tried to place the blame on us like it was something we did.”

In another Facebook post, Reynolds had said, “I wanted everyone in the world to know how much [the police] tamper with evidence and how much they manipulate our minds. I wanted it to go viral so that people could determine themselves as to what was right and what was wrong.”
On 7th July, Castile, 32, was shot in front of Reynolds and her 4-year-old daughter after police pulled their car over, citing a broken tail light.
Reynolds streamed the gruesome aftermath of the slaying live on Facebook, telling a worldwide audience that her companion had been shot “for no apparent reason” while reaching for his wallet. Reynolds and relatives say he wasn’t tended to until paramedics arrived more than 10 minutes later. The Facebook footage shows Castile motionless inside the car for several minutes.
About 200 people are gathered outside the Minnesota Governor’s Residence in St. Paul to protest, following which Governor Mark Dayton started pressing the Justice Department to open its second investigation of the week into the death of a black man at the hands of police.
Reynolds told reporters Thursday that Philando Castile did “nothing but what the police officer asked of us, which was to put your hands in the air and get your license and registration.” An autopsy later confirmed that Castile was died of multiple gunshot wounds.
