Maharashta Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray laid down conditions for the makers of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ before finally calling off the protest his party has been staging against it for weeks now. He said the producers of all the films with Pakistani actors in it will have to give Rs 5 crore to the Army relief fund and will also have to give in writing that they’ll not cast any Pakistani artists in the future.
People on social media are furious at what they are calling ‘settlement’ and can’t fathom Thackeray’s move. Many have even called it ‘extortion’. But in a series of powerful tweets that have gone viral on social media, former Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur slammed Thackeray’s decision. “I served four decades in uniform- and never did I live on extorted money. What’s this happening in my country???? Indian Armed Forces cannot, and SHUD NOT, become crutches 4pol ambitions. Unfortunately, this is the trend seen in recent past,” he wrote.

Why should the Armed Forces be made a part of this extortion? By accepting this money they would become a ‘receiver’ of tainted money @adgpi https://t.co/tB2wj4Kxqw
