The day of love has arrived. After exchanging roses, chocolates, promises and hugs, it is finally time to celebrate the day with full gusto. February 14 is universally celebrated as Valentine’s Day and lovers not only celebrate this day but also the days leading up to it. Over the years, the day has gained much significance and people spend a lot of time preparing for it. Wishes and gifts are exchanged and of course a lot of hearts are mended and broken on this day.
The day of love has a lot of significance. Many believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the death anniversary of Saint Valentine who died in mid-February in 270 AD. While others believe that the celebrations of the day began as the Church attempted to ‘christianise’ the Lupercalia festival celebrations. Several historical texts also suggest that the saint whose name is associated with the celebration could probably have been more than one man.
Although the definitive source of the day is yet to be identified, it does not stop lovers and partners from going all out and celebrating the day. And it would not be an exaggeration to say that there is an unmistakable mush in the air. And while you can always send the most romantic quote to your loved one, let’s try something different this Valentine’s Day, shall we?
