Kareena Kapoor gets emotional, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma laud Women in Blue as they create history with first-ever World Cup win

Actor Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to share videos from the match and congratulated the girls. She wrote, “I grew up watching the heroes in blue… tonight, they all look like her. World champions. Congratulations team India 🫡.”

Kareena Kapoor also shared a video of the match’s final moment on her Instagram Stories and admitted that she got emotional after the win. She wrote, “Still crying tears of joy,” adding a heart emoji.

Anushka Sharma, actor and wife of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, also lauded the Indian women’s cricket team. She wrote, “You champions!! SUCH A momentous achievement.” Kiara Advani called it “an incredible moment” and congratulated “our Women in Blue.”

Shraddha Kapoor compared the Indian women’s team’s victory to India’s iconic 1983 win when the men in blue lifted the World Cup trophy for the first time. Shraddha wrote, “For decades, sirf parents se sunte the what 1983 felt like. Humein humara ye wala moment dene ke liye Thank you girls (We used to hear the stories about the emotion our parents felt after India won World Cup in 1983. Thank you for giving us that moment). This is for generations.”

India won the ICC Women’s World Cup Final 2025 by defeating South Africa by 52 runs. The team clinched the match on home ground at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, marking a golden chapter in Indian cricket history.
