Ceasefire violation: BSF jawan killed in firing by Pakistani troop

In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, a BSF jawans was killed in firing by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control in Baramulla sector of North Kashmir on Thursday.

In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, a BSF jawans was killed in firing by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control in Baramulla sector of North Kashmir on Thursday.

The incident took place at around 3.30 PM when the jawan, posted in Karam post in Uri area of Baramulla sector, collapsed after being hit in his right eye by a bullet from across the border, the officials said.

The jawan has been identified as Krishna Kumar Dubey, a constable in BSF.

This is the first time that Pakistani troops have opened fire in this sector this year.

The Pakistani firing was retalited by the troops and some casualities were inflicted on the other side, the officials claimed.

The Pakistani troops have been resorting to small arms fire at various Indian positions among the Line of Control in Poonch in last few days. Earlier on Tuesday, an Army jawan was injured in firing by Pakistan in Poonch sector.

The ceasefire violation on Tuesday come less than 36 hours after Pakistani Rangers resorted to mortar shelling at BSF posts along the international border in Arnia sector.

Earlier in October last, Pakistani shelling had led to migration of people from various villages on Indian side of the international border, making BSF retaliate effectively.
