J&K: New VC appointed for Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University

He has been appointed for a period of five years from the date he assumes office, an official release here said, adding that the appointment order was issued on Thursday by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who is the Chancellor of the University.

DEAN Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in the Aligarh Muslim University, Prof Javed Musarrat, has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri district.

He has been appointed for a period of five years from the date he assumes office, an official release here said, adding that the appointment order was issued on Thursday by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who is the Chancellor of the University. This follows recommendations of the search committee headed by Prof. Amitabh Matoo, Advisor to the CM.

Born in 1960, Prof. Musarrat is presently Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chairman of Department of Agricultural Microbiology, AMU.

Author of several books and hundreds of international publications, Prof. Mussarat has served in the United States as Visiting Scientist, Michigan State University and Visiting Assistant Professor, Ohio State University, Columbus. He was also the Chair Professor, DNA Research Chair, King Saud University, Riyadh.

He has also received several awards and is a member of various editorial boards of Scientific Journals.
