The Punjab and Haryana High Court is hearing a PIL filed by Mohali Industries Association regarding operation of international flights from the airport. Last month, Rajya Sabha MP and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, Kanwardeep Singh had told Chandigarh Newsline that flights are likely to get started in August-end.

The statement of Singh had come after he along with 11-members of the committee visited the airport and held a meeting with Civil Aviation, Defence and Home Ministry officials to “resolve” the delay in starting of international flights from the city.
