Sengupta says she considers Shabana (Azmi) and Smita (Patil) as the most versatile among Sen’s ‘Heroines’.

“Whenever I do meet Mrinalda, I regret why he never considered me for a later role. He smiles but we all know (He won’t make a film again),” Rituparna told PTI here.

The ‘Dahan’ actor, having got rave reviews for a slew of critically acclaimed roles including ‘Paromitar Ekdin’, would rate the role of Shabana in Kandhahar as the one she missed doing as an actor.

“Also if you recollect Smita’s role (in Akaler Sandhane) or Dimple’s (Kapadia) in Mahanagar. I can walk miles to get any such roles. These days I often share my thoughts with Sreeladi (Majumder) who used to feature in many works of Mrinalda,” Rituparna said.

The upcoming ‘Parapar’ actor, directed by Rituparno Ghosh-starrer ‘Memories in March’ maker Sanjoy Nag where she is pitted opposite Paoli Dam and Bangladeshi actor Rubel, was asked about her one time regret as a leading Bengali film actress.

“I had wished Mrinalda on his 93rd birthday earlier this month and I again rued that he was not making films any more,” she said.
