Huma Qureshi shows her glamorous side at LFW

“In the movie she (Huma) plays love interest of a gangster (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). There is lot of drama to her character in the film – she tries to imitate Madhuri Dixit. I thought this side of her character would add drama to my garments and that she would do justice,” Atithi said.

Atithi’s outfits mixed fabrics like georgette,wrinkled crepe,chiffons and cotton silks exhibited a feminine and classy feel.

“I work on detailing. My garments look simple but there is lot of texturing and gathering. I wanted to keep it minimalistic,stylish and different,” Atithi said.

The first half of the fifth day at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 saw an interesting mix of collection by new breed designers like Nupur Kanol,Ruchika Sachdeva,Amrita Thakur,Prashant Chauhan,Surya Sarkar and Nishka Lulla.

Designer Nupur Kanol showcased armour jacket,corded jackets,pleated,embroidered and printed silk trousers,crushed track suit,printed silk jumpsuit,embroidered pantsuits and waistcoats. It included dark and sombre colours with an essence of white and sea green.

It was shimmer and shine from Amrita Thakur with her collection titled ‘Salma Sitara’.

Amrita showed more creations in net in shades of green,rust,mustard,yellow,peach,red,orange,vermilion and henna. The collection included delicate net saris with zari work,kalidar kurtas,jackets teamed with a bright kurta and striking dupattas.

Daughter of renowned designer Neeta Lulla,Nishka aimed at the modern women who love to opt for truly travel-Boho-chic garments.

Her creations included tunics,flared trousers,maxis,midi skirts,some delightful oversized jackets and even two saris offered a stylish twist for the bohemian dresser.

Nishka added myriad colours like grey,soft peach and pink,aqua,green,coral,lavender and topped them with black and white.

“My collection this year in the bohemian theme is very close to my heart and reflects a part of my personality. There is lot of variation in my designs along with vintage hues making this collection chic and mature,” Nishka said.

Designer Prashant Chauhan’s collection was inspired by the ‘valley of flowers’ in Uttarakhand.

Prashant showcased beautiful asymmetric hem tunics with garden print tights,printed jumpsuits and saffron shaded waist dress with flashes of flowers. His collection was tribute to the beauty of the region.

Inspired by the beautiful jewellery of Maa Durga,designer Surya Sarkar’s ‘Daker Saaj’ collection was a fusion line of women and men’s wear,an ode to Durga Puja festivities.

A variety of jumpsuits,pants,classic structured gowns,dresses,jackets,waistcoats and tees were the eye catchers on the ramp.
