Secret Superstar box office collection day 8: Zaira Wasim and Aamir Khan’s film probably failed to enter the Rs 100 crore club because it released alongside ‘Golmaal Again’.

After ‘Dangal’, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and child actor Zaira Wasim collaborated for the second time for ‘Secret Superstar’. Zaira Wasim had the lead role in the film, while Aamir Khan, who also produced the film, had an extended cameo. After creating a storm in the industry with the success of ‘Dangal’, their second collaboration had obviously been the next exciting news for fans of Aamir Khan and cinephiles. ‘Secret Superstar’ has till now earned as much as Rs 41.59 crore. Although monetarily it has not been able to make as much as ‘Dangal’, the film has recovered its cost of production and earned double the amount. ‘Secret Superstar’ was made on a budget of just Rs 15 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#SecretSuperstar saw GOOD GROWTH in its extended weekend… Was STEADY [lower side] on weekdays… Crossed ₹ 40 cr… Week 2 is crucial…” He further added, “#SecretSuperstar Thu 4.80 cr, Fri 9.25 cr, Sat 8.55 cr, Sun 8.50 cr, Mon 3.05 cr, Tue 2.75 cr, Wed 2.40 cr, Thu 2.29 cr. Total: ₹ 41.59 cr.”

The film probably failed to enter the Rs 100 crore club because it released alongside Ajay Devgn’s ‘Golmaal Again’ on Diwali. ‘Secret Superstar’ is a content-based film, and happy holidays aren’t really the time when the audience is in the mood to watch a film which talks about serious issues.

The chances of ‘Secret Superstar’ being more successful would have probably been during the lucky month of December, which has always been a fortunate time for the Bollywood superstar. Nevertheless, the ‘PK’ actor seemed to happy with all the praises the film is receiving.

“I’m absolutely thrilled with the love and affection our film ‘Secret Superstar’ is getting from all over the world. I’m so proud of Advait. In his first film itself, he has firmly established himself as a first-rate storyteller who successfully knows how to enter the hearts of his audience,” Aamir Khan told ANI.
