Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Jazbaa’ earns Rs 4.23 cr on its opening day
Despite being promoted as the comeback vehicle of former beauty queen and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 'Jazbaa', also starring Irrfan Khan, earned only Rs 4.23 cr on its opening day.

Despite being promoted as the comeback vehicle of former beauty queen and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ‘Jazbaa’, also starring Irrfan Khan, opened to below-expectation figures. The crime drama has managed to earn a mere Rs 4.23 cr on its opening day.
Touted as an action thriller, the Sanjay Gupta directorial opened to mixed reviews. While some called the movie a perfect way for Aishwarya to make a comeback to the silver screen, Indian Express’ critic Shubhra Gupta wrote, “If ‘Jazbaa’ was as taut as its origin, the lead actor would be complementing and pushing the theme, not created simply to overpower the whole.”
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the information.
#Jazbaa Fri ₹ 4.23 cr. India biz… Biz gathered momentum towards evening/night shows… Expect an upward trend on Sat.

Last seen in ‘Guzaarish’ opposite Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya has also been getting mixed feedback for her acting in the movie. About Aishwarya’s performance in the movie, Shubhra writes, “It’s not as if Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gets Anuradha Verma, the anguished legal eagle who takes up cudgels for people whose guilt is beyond doubt, all wrong. In the scenes in which she has to be matter-of-fact, where she is recounting facts and bringing up counter-arguments, she uses her star-power just right. In the others, she is over the top, see-sawing between hysteria and over-wroughtness. And has you wincing.”

Aishwarya’s intense role of an advocate who has to find her kidnapped daughter sees the actress doing some high-octane stunts. Irrfan plays the role of a suspended cop who helps the determined mother in her cause.
The business is expected to pick on Saturday and Sunday.
