Shiv Sena’s Rajendra Devlekar elected KDMC mayor
The KDMC elections had seen a direct confrontation between the Sena and the BJP and marked with acrimony after both parties had decided to fight the elections independently.

Rajendra Devlekar of the Shiv Sena was formally elected as the mayor of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation on Wednesday. Vikram Tare of the BJP was elected as the deputy mayor. Both of them were elected unopposed.
After a month-long conflict, the Shiv Sena and the BJP had earlier this week formalised a power sharing formula for the Kalyan Dombivli Muncipal Corporation. As per the arrangement, the Shiv Sena will hold the mayor’s post for four years and the BJP for one. The deputy mayor’s position will be held by the BJP for four years while the Sena will hold it for one year.
