To add ‘Maharaj’, Maharashtra Cabinet renames Mumbai airport, CST

The Maharashtra Cabinet has also decided to rename the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. It was earlier Victoria Terminus.

The Maharashtra cabinet on Thursday renamed the Mumbai international airport from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The cabinet’s reasoning behind the decision was that the Maratha warrior king deserved more respect.

The Cabinet has also decided to rename the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. It was earlier Victoria Terminus.

Interestingly, the move by the Maharashtra Cabinet comes barely a month before Mumbai goes to civic body polls.
