Swine flu claims three in five days, 77 cases so far in Ahmedabad

The three deaths were reported on February 11, 12 and 15 at different hospitals in the city.

Swine flu has claimed three lives in Ahmedabad in the last five days. Since January 1, the total number of deaths due to swine flu in the city has touched 16, while 77 cases have been reported, so far.

The three deaths were reported on February 11, 12 and 15 at different hospitals in the city, said AMC’s health department officials.

Apart from cases of H1N1 infections, the city witnessed a spurt in water-borne diseases. Between February 1 and 13, as many as 172 people reported diarrhoea, while 115 jaundice. Ninty-two people were suffering from typhoid.

In the first 45 days of this year, a total of 562 cases of diarrhoea, 396 of jaundice wree reported in the city. As many as 259 people were reported to be suffering from typhoid.

However, there was a respite from vector-borne diseases. As many as, 57 cases of malaria and 27 of dengue have been reported from January 1 till February 13.
