The 2023 ODI World Cup, which is currently ongoing in India, is the 13th edition of the tournament and the fourth instance of India hosting the showpiece ICC Cricket World Cup.

In the all-time records, while Sachin Tendulkar leads in the tally for most runs (2278), Glenn McGrath stands as the leading wicket taker (71).

In 2023, it was in the very first game that New Zealand’s Devon Conway scored the first century of the tournament, swiftly followed by Rachin Ravindra. Conway also registered the first 150-plus score in the competition, scoring 152 against the defending champions in the first game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The first five-wicket haul of the tournament was registered by New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner against the Netherlands.

For the Indian cricket team, captain Rohit Sharma nailed the first hundred of the tournament, overall his seventh in the competition. With that ton, Rohit surpassed Sachin Tendulkar for most centuries in ODI World Cup history. The Indian skipper had scored five in the 2019 edition of the tournament in England whereas his first had come in 2015 against Bangladesh in the quarter final.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah nabbed the first four-wicket haul for the Men in Blue in the game against Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket team registered the highest chase in the tournament’s history when they managed to score 345 runs against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. The previous record was held by Ireland, who’d chased down 329 against England in the 2011 edition - which was also played in India - to complete a famous win.
