Amit Kamath is an Assistant Editor with the sports team of The Indian Express. Based out of Mumbai, Amit works with the online sports desk. He primarily writes on chess and Olympic sports, and co-hosts the Game Time podcast, a weekly offering from Express Sports.
He has 15 years of experience as a journalist, with stints for five Indian media organisations before joining The Indian Express. He has a keen interest in the way sport affects society and vice versa and tries to look at stories beyond the black and white narratives of stats and scores.
He was one of the only 20 or so Indian journalists on the ground to cover the deferred Tokyo Olympics in 2021. He has also covered the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
