Tens of thousands of protesting farmers broke the barricades to enter Delhi, with police resorting to tear-gassing and lathi-charge to stop their march. In Pic: Protesters break a barricade at ITO, in the heart of the national capital.

Delhi Police said the farmers did not stick to routes allotted to them for the tractor rally, leading to chaos and clashes.

A protester, who was driving a tractor that turned turtle, was killed in Central Delhi. Police also said the clashes had led to "extensive damage to public property" and injuries to "many policemen",

Clashes were also reported from several parts of Delhi.

Protesters were also seen breaking barricades and chasing police personnel with sticks at ITO in New Delhi.

The policemen were seen running or taking cover behind vehicles as farmers brandished sticks and rammed their tractors into the buses parked by police.

The protesting farmers also installed a Sikh religious flag on a minaret of the Red Fort.

Tension spiralled between the protesting farmers and police as the crowds swelled at the Red Fort complex.

On Republic Day 2021, thousands of protestors clashed with the police during the tractor parade called by farmer unions on January 26, demanding a repeal of the laws.

Delhi Police also had to resort to a lathi-charge in order to remove the protesting farmers from the Red Fort.
