After state Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singhs challenge to Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal to debate on public issues,Punjab Deputy CM today dared Captain Amarinder Singh to state at least five development initiatives completed during his tenure and charged him of deliberately running away from Vidhan Sabha to cover his non-performance.
Talking to reporters at PAP helipad before holding Sangat Darshan at Adampur,Badal said Congress has nothing to claim on development front that is why they were trying to divert the development agenda with negative politics.
He said except vendetta politics,Captain Amarinder Singh failed to initiate a single development project during his five-year tenure and now he was perplexed with thousands of crores worth of projects initiated by SAD-BJP government fructifying.
He said that he does not believe in entering into slanging match with Congress leaders and his sole objective was to focus on development projects and governance reforms.
He said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had been requesting the Congress not to run away from debate even in budget session and in special session but Congress was deliberately shying away from it as they could not find anything negative to point out in budget and development agenda of the government.
When asked to comment about Sarnas announcement to fully support Congress party,Sukhbir said every Sikh was clear about Sarna brothers that they were the mobile unit of Congress and the party was using them as proxy to interfere in the internal affairs of Sikhs.
He blamed the Congress for deliberately delaying SGPC elections as it feared that overwhelming majority for Shiromani Akali Dal in these elections would be a trailer for ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.
He said that file of SGPC elections was lying on the table of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram since past one year and Punjab unit of Congress was pressurising him not to announce the SGPC poll schedule.
Rubbishing a report regarding cancellation of Municipal Infrastructure Development Fund of Rs 1,100 crores,Badal said within few days this fund would be released to the municipal corporations to upgrade the urban infrastructure.
Meanwhile,Badal laid the foundation stone of sub-tehsil at Adampur, besides distributing grants of Rs 8 crores to 70 panchayats of Adampur assembly constituency for development works.
