The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has given time till July 15 to unauthorised party plot owners to shut down operations. Failure to do so will result in sealing of the premises.
The plots in question were to face closure much earlier but the owners had pleaded that in view of the marriage season they be allowed to work for some more time. Now that the marriage season is over, they will have to close down by July 15,said Municipal Commissioner I P Gautam.
He said the closure operations would have been carried out earlier but the necessary police bandobast was not available in the wake of the impending Jagannath Rath Yatra.
Plot owners have, meanwhile, decided to hold a meeting on Friday to chalk out strategy to save the plots without incurring rage of authorities. Most of the 300-odd plots have been issued notices for violation of parking requirements besides encroaching upon roadside.
Dummy writers: Ex-GSHSEB chiefs bail plea rejected
The Ahmedabad City Civil & Sessions Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former secretary of GSHSEB H N Chavda in connection with the 2008 dummy writers scam. While upholding the prosecutions arguments that Chavda should be not granted anticipatory bail since he is facing serious charges, the court observed there is possibility he could tamper with the evidence. Chavda has been termed as the main conspirator in the case. He had gone underground ever since a local magisterial court allowed an arrest warrant.
Apprehending his arrest in the case,he had moved the anticipatory bail petition before the court saying he is being made a scapegoat to shield some big fish.
