The Khar police have arrested a man late Saturday for allegedly molesting a 27-year-old French national near her residence in Bandra shortly after midnight on Novmeber 8. The accused has been identified as Sunil Waghela, a scrap dealer from Dharavi.

Police said the victim, a French national who arrived in India a month ago and works as a teacher, was walking home on the night of November 7–8 when the incident occurred. She was about 200 metres away from her residence when Waghela approached her on a motorcycle after seeing her alone. He stopped near her and allegedly touched her inappropriately. When she screamed for help, he fled the spot, an official said.

According to police, the victim was traumatised by the incident and did not leave her home for two days. She later informed a friend, who helped her approach the police. A case was registered on Friday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Investigators reviewed several CCTV camera feeds and traced the accused’s movements towards Khar Danda. Based on technical evidence, the police identified Waghela and arrested him from his Dharavi residence, an officer said.
He was taken to the police station, where he allegedly confessed during questioning. Waghela was subsequently arrested and produced before a court, a police officer said.
