SC says open to shift fodder scam case trial

The Supreme Court Tuesday said it was open to shift the trial in a fodder scam case

The Supreme Court Tuesday said it was open to shift the trial in a fodder scam case, involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as an accused, from the special court to some other court.

We may consider shifting the trial to some other court if all of you (parties) are agreeable. The final arguments can proceed before the new court expeditiously thereafter, said a Bench led by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam.

However, the court adjourned the matter for first week of August since the CBI had not responded to the courts notice to make its stand clear on Yadavs prayer to shift the trial. The former Bihar CM is one of the accused in a case pertaining to alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.7 crore from Chaibasa Treasury (now in Jharkhand) in the 1990s.
