YouTube down for thousands of users globally, video streaming impacted

Alphabet-owned YouTube has been down for thousands of users globally, including in the United States, Australia, Canada and the UK, according to Downdetector.

YouTube acknowledged the glitch on Wednesday and said on its status page that it is aware of users experiencing issues watching videos, and added that it is investigating the issue. However, it was not immediately clear what caused the outage of the streaming platform.

As per Downdetector, at 7:55pm ET (local time), more than 366,000 people have reported issues with YouTube streaming in the United States itself.

Updating about the issue, Downdetector in a post on X, said “An ongoing issue with YouTube has now received over 800,000 reports since being identified at 7:12pm ET.”
