A spokesman for the local search and rescue agency,Teguh Supriyadi, said Yeveny was found safe Thursday in weak condition with some bruises.

His position, about 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) altitude, had been located in the morning, but rescuers needed four hours to reach him due a deep ravine separating them.

The 2,968-meter (9,737-foot) mountain is the most active among Indonesia’s volcanoes.
