Israel Iran ceasefire Update: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused both Israel and Iran of violating a ceasefire he had announced just hours earlier, saying he was displeased with both sides — but “especially Israel,” Reuters reported.

Speaking to reporters before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump criticised Israel for launching strikes immediately after agreeing to the ceasefire. “Israel unloaded right after agreeing to the deal,” he said.

Trump also reiterated that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been destroyed by recent US strikes. “Their nuclear capacities are gone, and they will never rebuild their nuclear programme,” he claimed.

Shortly after, in a post on Truth Social, Trump also asked Israel to, “do not drop those bombs. If you do, it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now.”

Trump declared a ceasefire aimed at ending the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, but within hours of the truce taking effect, both sides resumed hostilities on Tuesday morning.

At around 10:30 pm local time, air raid sirens sounded in northern Israel in response to what the Israeli military described as an Iranian missile launch—approximately two and a half hours after the ceasefire was announced. Israeli media reported that two incoming missiles were intercepted by defence systems.

Iran, however, denied launching any missiles after the truce came into effect. Despite that, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said he had ordered a swift military response against Tehran.

“I have instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with powerful strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran,” Katz said in a statement. “In light of Iran’s complete violation of the ceasefire declared by the US president and the launch of missiles towards Israel … I have instructed the IDF … to continue the intense activity of attacking Tehran to thwart regime targets and terrorist infrastructures in Tehran, in continuation of the activity that took place yesterday.”
