The International Falcon Breeders Auction 2025 is the world's largest gathering of its kind. (Photo: SPA)A Slovenian super white falcon was sold for SAR 151,000 (Rs 34 lakh) at the ongoing International Falcon Breeders Auction 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The falcon chick from the farm of the Slovenian breeder GP was auctioned on Tuesday and is the most expensive bird sold in the ongoing auction.
Organized by the Saudi Falcons Club in Malham, the auction brings together leading breeding farms from across the globe and runs until August 25.
The record-setting falcon is a Mathlouth gyrfalcon hybrid super white, which is less than a year old and weighs just over 1 kg.
According to an Arab News report, the identity of the buyer has not been revealed. On the same day, a gyrfalcon shaheen falcon, from British breeder YLS, was also sold for SAR 51,000 (Rs 11.82 lakhs).

According to the organisers, the auction serves as a trusted platform showcasing distinguished falcon breeds through live competitive bidding attended by falconers, breeders, and enthusiasts from within the Kingdom and abroad.
While the auction is set to continue till August 25, several top international breeders have completely sold out their inventory within the first week.
José Areno, who runs the Areno farm in Spain, sold his entire stock in just four days, with one exceptional falcon fetching 150,000 Saudi riyals (Rs 34 lakh).
“The auction has become an essential annual event for our business,” Areno told the Saudi Press Agency.
French breeder Philippe Hertel of Phil Farm and the Czech Republic’s BG Falcons both sold out their entire inventory within the first five days.
“This year’s sales have exceeded all previous years,” Hertel said.
