A day ahead of his two-day visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Vice President JD Vance and his Indian-origin wife Usha on the sidelines of the AI Summit in Paris.

This marks Modi’s first interaction with a member of Donald Trump’s newly elected administration.

In a video shared by PMO India, the prime minister was seen holding bilateral talks with Vance, while his wife watched on.

Earlier, in a video shared by French President Emmanuel Macron on X, Modi is seen congratulating Vance on the Republican Party’s victory in last year’s US presidential election while shaking his hand at the Élysée Palace.

“Congratulations. Great, great victory,” Modi said, to which Vance replied, “Thank you so much. So nice to see you.”
